Treatments / Hair removal

Comfort begins with clarity.

Understand what a waxing appointment can involve, how to prepare and the questions worth asking beforehand.

Clear information before treatment

Waxing is a method of temporary hair removal. It can be used on different areas of the body, but available treatments, timings and suitability will vary. The salon should confirm which areas it treats before you book.

Results and regrowth are individual, and waxing is not permanent hair removal. If this is your first time, it is reasonable to ask how the process works and what the skin may feel like afterwards.

Before an appointment

  • Tell the salon about medications, topical retinoids, recent exfoliating treatments or sensitivity that may affect the skin.
  • Avoid attending with sunburn, broken skin or active irritation in the treatment area.
  • Ask about the recommended hair length and whether there is anything you should stop using before treatment.
  • Check whether a patch test or consultation is needed.

Aftercare and comfort

Skin may be temporarily red or sensitive. Follow the advice given for the treatment area; this can include avoiding heat, friction, strong products or other sources of irritation for a period afterwards.

If you have a medical condition or you are unsure whether a treatment is suitable, seek appropriate clinical advice instead of relying on a salon website to assess it.

Practical first steps

For a more comfortable appointment

Check the area

Confirm the salon offers the specific waxing service you want.

Discuss your skin

Tell the salon about sensitivity, products and relevant medication.

Plan the aftercare
